Hi, I'm Boyang Hu
Product Lead · Industrial Designer
Welcome
I design products that bridge the physical
and the digital, and ship them end to end.
Who I am
I'm Boyang — based in Beijing. I started as an industrial designer and grew into product management over the past decade, so I tend to think about a problem from form, manufacturing, software, and shipped-to-customer all at once.
I care about consumer hardware, the gap between what looks finished and what actually ships, and the quiet craft of making something feel obvious in retrospect.
Currently: leading the smart products group at DeepCool — building the software and embedded layer that turns cooling hardware into a connected ecosystem.

Product Lead, Smart Products Group · DeepCool
Stand up and lead the cross-functional smart products group — product, embedded, software, design, and structural — driving the company's transition from PC accessories into a connected hardware ecosystem.
Launched the company's first end-user software stack (DeepCool Hub, DeepCreative) alongside an embedded firmware layer across air coolers, AIOs, cases, fans, and power supplies. Define the retail fan portfolio across performance tiers (Sudokoo Mach, FD series, FL series).
2020 – 2022
Senior Industrial Designer · DeepCool
Owned industrial design of the fan product line; contributed across air coolers, AIOs, cases, and power supplies — concept through mass production.
Established the team's research methodology — competitive analysis, user personas, ergonomic and use-context studies — and ran internal design workshops. Lead designer on flagship products LT720 (AIO liquid cooler), CH370 (case), and FX Alpha (fully-wireless fan).
2018 – 2020
Senior Product Designer · Beijing Crafterwork Technology
B2B design consulting across industrial products, digital systems, and forward-looking concept work. Owned the handoff from concept through prototype to mass production with mechanical and engineering partners.
Clients: Tsinghua University, Beijing City University, China Unicom, Blackmagic Design, CCIV, and others.
Lead designer on award-winning products: Play Together (Red Dot Best of the Best, 2020), Just One (iF, 2021), Double Irrigate (Red Dot, 2021).
2016 – 2018
Innovation Lead · Tsinghua Service Design Institute
Led innovation programs with Daimler, Siemens, COMAC, Tsinghua, and the Beijing Xicheng District government; ran cross-industry design workshops.
Stood up the Data Innovation Lab and authored its curriculum. Research areas: service design, product innovation, design thinking, UX, data innovation, and mixed-reality remote collaboration.
2015 – 2016
Product Manager · Beijing Cherubime Information Tech
Personalization and recommendation systems — research, definition, prototyping, PRD authoring, and shipping to launch.
Designed and launched Nerd, a personalized-recommendation app, end-to-end. Built the team's data and content backend platform and brand design system.

Outside of work
Most of my off-hours go to two things: trying every new piece of hardware that ships, and making stuff with the result. The first half comes with being a designer — I end up with most of what's on the market: AR glasses, handhelds and consoles, recording and playback gear, headphones, anything with an unusual interaction model. The other half fills the rest of the desk: well-built DIY kits, dev boards, a Bambulab H2D 3D printer, and an Anker eufyMake E1 UV printer. I'm a beginner Linux enthusiast (I use Arch + niri + DMS btw), a beginner AI tinkerer (vibecoding my own workflows and knowledge into skills), and a beginner embedded engineer — because you can't really design hardware without touching it.
That's the resume version.
For how I actually think — read the blog.
